There's a lot of advice I could give new witches. But I've chunked it down into some bite size thoughts that I would have liked when I was younger and just starting out.
Remember witchcraft isn't one size fits all so do what you want, but most importantly always do what feels right to you.
It's going to be a journey not a race
You're never going to stop moving forward in all your spaces. Don't rush the processes just let them evolve with you.
You don't need all the things
Don't buy all the things you're not going to need anyway. Spirituality doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to be intentional.
Expect stuff to blow up in your face sometimes (Because the towers built on shaky groud)
Sometimes this part is messy but trust me when I say the grass is greener! Don't look back when things don't work out, that just means something better for you is on the way.
Sometimes it gets creepy
Witchcraft can be scary. Sometimes your dead grandma will show up in your dreams, and sometimes you might see a shadow across the room. This is your intuition showing up. And sometimes its creepy and that's ok.
You'll never know yourself better
If you really want to KNOW yourself and I mean like the inner corners of all the levels of your psyche this is the space for you. You'll never doubt who you are and you'll trust yourself to no end.
People aren't finite
People shift, move and grow out of things all the time. It's kind of silly to think someone you met 5 years ago or 5 months ago is the same as they were the day you met. People move and grow all the time.
Not everyone wants your help
I know you want to protect your BFF or give your niece a charm for good luck but not everyone is open to magic and witchcraft and not everyone will receive your help with positivity. For me this means I only help when I'm asked.
Protect your peace at all costs
There is nothing more valuable then your peace, and peace of mind and how you feel about yourself. Protect it at all times no matter what.
Friendships / relationships are seasons
Friendships evolve and grow just like people. It's totally ok and healthy for these things to come to an end without any hard feelings.
Graveyards are a must
If you don't visit a graveyard and bury a spell at least once are you even a witch?
Spellwork IS innerwork
Spellwork is creating and manifesting on an energetic level and in the end it changes how you think about yourself and who you think you are, that to me is the baseline of innerwork.
Creating the life you want takes TIME
This one is hard for me because I'm an impatient witch. But remember spells take time, magic takes time, the universe takes its damn time.
Expect BIG results
Things will move! Things will get better! Things will happen! Expect the results of your magic!
You will never stop learning
You will never know everything. There will always be a better witch, or a more experienced occultist. It's ok, learn, grow, get better.
Your practice, beliefs, thoughts even deities you worship will evolve
Don't freak out when things you thought were true in the beginning of your journey are not how you feel in the middle of it all. Your beliefs will change and that's normal.
There is all kinds of different information its up to you to discern it
The internet, is well the internet. There is a zillion magical makers online and each one has a different style. Take in what works for you. No one is wrong, no one is right. Do what's best for yourself.
Witchcraft has no rules (despite what people say) do what you want with your practice
There are no rules in Witchcraft. So practice however you like. There are no consequences, no 3 fold law. Just you, your energy and how you want to represent your life.
Know your placements in Human Design and Astrology - it'll save you so much time in the end
This is so important! Get to know your placements. Get a good astrology reading and understand the value of your unique map. This will save you so much time growing through things when you understand HOW your energy works for you.
